Inside WORLD : FIFA to release statement Thursday on WCup probe

ZURICH (AP) — FIFA says its ethics committee chairman will release a statement Thursday on the investigation into the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

FIFA says ethics chief Hans-Joachim Eckert will issue a statement at 0900 GMT following an investigation by prosecutor Michael Garcia into the process that led to the awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 tournament to Qatar.

FIFA has been under pressure to publish Garcia's report in full. But Eckert has ruled that out, saying his statement would contain "an overview of the investigation report, a summary of the main findings, conclusions and recommendations of the report, as well as a brief evaluation of the same."
